EAT YOUR WAY TO BEAUTIFUL HAIR AND SKIN

Hello
.....It's been a while since i blog posted..i've been really hectic and busy so in between schedules I decided to quickly repost this article which I found online. I  hope that it serves some interest to you guys and that you may gain from it :)
***article gathered from   www. mommynoire.com  ***
For beautiful, healthy hair, nails, and skin, the answer is right in your refrigerator. Eating a balanced diet doesn't just translate on the scale, but it also has many other benefits.

1. Do away with dry, brittle hair by boosting your daily protein intake with beans and legumes. Add garbanzo or black beans to your soups or salads, or whip up a bowl of hummus to go with your favorite raw vegetables. Just remember to go easy on the oil.
2.Want soft, supple, youthful looking skin all year long? Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and nuts, like almonds, nourish the skin and help fight inflammation. Top a leafy, green salad with a serving of tuna or salmon and garnish with slivered almonds.
3.f you’re feeling sluggish and weighed down, there’s no better – or tastier — way to quickly beat the bloat than with the “good bacteria” found in probiotics like yogurt. Opt for fat-free Greek yogurts that are low in calories, but high in healthy probiotics to help keep your digestive system on track.
4.For strong finger and toenails, load up on Biotin, a B vitamin found in foods like eggs, salmon, avocado, raspberries, bananas, cheddar cheese, and nuts such as pecans and almonds. Because your body doesn’t store Biotin, it’s important to get your fill of it every day, avoiding processed food sources, which destroy the vitamin.

Beauty/ MakeUp Mistakes That Turn Men Off!!!

Hi,
So for this week's blog post i stumbled across this article and was like OMG!!!, could this be true. I found some accuracy in in some of the points however I found that i could not nor should not be generalized to men only because as women we get quite horrified (I know that I do ), when i see women wearing GOOD, EXPENSIVE makeup POORLY and or applying their makeup as if they did it in the dark. So here goes the points. I'll leave the link below to the site where  I took it from as well and i'll also added a few of my BIGGEST pet peeves when it comes to makeup application :)

1. Caked-On Foundation
Painting layers of foundation, tinted moisturizer, concealer, and powder on your face will rub off on your collar…and his. Stick with a lightweight foundation, remove any obvious makeup with a damp sponge, and dab concealer just over blemishes or redness.

2. Sticky lip gloss
There are lip glosses that moisturize with a subtle sheen, and there are those that are so sticky they could glue together broken glass.

3. Smokey eye overload
It starts off innocently enough: It’s just you, an eye-shadow palette, and a mirror. But things can get ugly fast when heavy, dark shadows are piled on top of each other. Create a subtle, sexy smoky eye by slightly smudging black eyeliner along the rims of your eyes.

***These top three were taken from hellobeautiful.com***

4. Harsh, Black, Thick Eyebrows

Nothing scares people away more than an eyebrow (s), which does nothing to face besides scare away people. Eyeborws are meant to enhance and frame the shape of the face, accentuate your eye makeup and just generally give a sculpted look to the face shape. Eyebrows should be neither too thick nor too thin that they take away from the rest of the face, but they should highlight and provide that well groomed look.

5. The Wrong Foundation

Along with applying too much foundation, comes applying the wrong color/shade foundation. Foundation is meant to provide a smooth canvas, to enhance and even out the skin tone, and it can however be  one of the most difficult products to find (your color/shade/undertone) correctly and apply (blend, set ) correctly. Bear in mind that we as women of color skin changes in the summer and winter months because of more UV rays exposure and also we may be the same color but different undertone. My advice to any first timer purchasing foundation : go with a friend to the makeup counter and ensure that they agree with the color chose chosen (most makeup girls at the counter work under commission and would sell Jennifer Hudson, Rihanna's foundation just to get that paper.. TRUST ME...), wait couple days after test to see how your skin reacts to the product, apply it in natural light and shop around before making that big purchase (can i get a dupe in the drugstore, revlon, loreal , iman, and black opal (it transfers a lot) are great foundations for women of color)

6. Applying Eye Shadow Incorrectly

The general rule of thump when it pertains to eyeshadow application is that the light/medium color goes on the lids, the darkest color in the crease and the lightest color on the brow bone. How many times have you seen the lightest color from lid-crease-browbone??? or that never ending smokey eye??? yea my point exactly don't do it. When in doubt don't do it, skip eyeshadow application altogether.

7. Bozo the Clown Blush

Blush id to be apply to the apples to cheeks and worked up into the temples, blending it out nicely so that it creates this glow, sculpted cheek bone effect and not like a clown in makeup. I have been gulityof this at times, but not because i chose to but if i'm using a very high pigmented color, the brush collect too much products so i have to blend using me face powder. La femme and milani baked blushes are very highly pigmented products.

So that's it (i think) until next blog post Ciao :) ........Rhelle

Naturally Homemade Cosmetic Recipes!!!

Hello :)

I hope that all of you guys are doing awesome.
So I've done some research into some cheaper alternatives to face masks and facials on the whole. And to my surprise I found that in my kitchen was residing a whole wealth of stuff (food items), that can be used on the face. Some i've heard of before like honey and oats, but i didn't know of aspirin, yogurt etc... so i decided to leave with you a recipe (probally , i'll do this as a series)

Oatmeal and Yogurt Face Mask

This face mask is suitable for all skin types and is super simple to prepare. It will cleanse and rejuvenate your skin. (i'm not a dermatologist, so please be careful with use).

Preparation Time : 5-10 mins

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp oatmeal, finely ground
  • 1 tbsp live, organic yogurt (skip the flavored stuff)
  • A few drops of honey (optional)
Method
Add the yogurt to the oatmeal in a small bowl and mix together thoroughly until it become a paste, add  a few drops of honey (optional) and continue to mix until, you get the texture required.

Allow it to "rest" for a while.

Apply the mask to the face. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse off with several splashes of warm water. Follow with a warm washcloth.

Keep The Dream Alive!!!

Hi, bloggers
I really hope that all of you guys have been doing good,  I believe in a higher power and I transferred my problems and issues to HIM :)

So for today's blog I stumbled across this inspirational article on www.essence.com, and felt that I should share it with you guys just in case you guys hadn't seen it.

Tamika Newhouse: From Teen Mom to Publisher and CEO

Read more here (not sure if google allows full article by others): http://www.essence.com/2012/07/29/tamika-newhouse-from-teen-mom-to-publisher-and-ceo/#ixzz223TCJcdK

But to summarize the article she was basically made the most out of a hard situation of being a teen mom, and overcame and went on to own her own publishing company by age 21(awesome), what did you do/ or are doing at age 21? I graduated (yeaaaaaa me )

The last paragraph of the article reads
"So to any woman out there in her "darkest hour." Yes, you with the dream. Always remember that faith without work is dead. Grab a pen and paper NOW and write down your to-do list, and then start at number one. Every little action counts. Your dream starts now. "

And I'll leave you guys with that "YOUR dream starts NOW" claim it because it's yours.

Thanks for Reading..Ciao for now .......:)

Nail It!!!

Pretty Nails For Spring and Summer

I Love Nail Colors....All of them, there i said it (sigh), i love nail polishes, stickers, nail art, diamante everything, actually when I first started viewing youtube videos I only watched nail art video.(promise). But I must add as well that, with all things artificial which are added to body one must first take care of what is beneath it or better yet, your skin (face if you wear makeup), hair (if you wear weaves, wigs, braids and or extension), nails (if you wear nail polish, gel tips, acrylic tips).

OPI Nicki Minaj "Pink Friday"
Keeping your nails well groomed is an important part in the overall look of you manicure. Once a week or month, if that is more suitable to you, give yourself or have a professionally done manicure. At home care should involve the use of scrub of the back and palm of the hand to remove dead skin cells, a good moisturizer and cuticle oil or olive oil.

Essie "sand tropez"
If your'e nails are weak and brittle, the problem may be that you lack calcium in your diet. Try including calcium and taking vitamins in your daily regime.

LA Girl "delectable"
The direction in which you file your'e nails is also important to the growth of them, its best that nails should be filed from one edge of the nail to the center, and then from the other edge back to the center. Never "saw" your nails in a back and forth motion. Always smooth long strokes to prevent chipping.

So that's it for this blog i'll probably in the near future do another blog in greater and more pics of a manicure basics with safety, tools and equipment..........Till Next Blog Post.....Take Care &......Nail It Today....Job, School, Work, Life, Love, Relationships.......Ciao :)

20 Ways To Own Your Happiness In 2012

Although the year officially began six months ago, and its now mid year in summer, it never too late to rethink your happiness in 2012. The definition of "happiness' itself is quite relative as different people attach different meainings to what makes them happy and what fullfils the void of emptness of unhappiness in their lives. Happiness for some may be in the ability to get college/university degrees or diplomas, own a car, house, business, have kid/s etc.
Recently I stumbled over these 20 ways to own your happiness in 2012 and decided to vlog/blog about them these would be a 2 part series as i dont want to overwhelm you guys with info( & too much typing lol :)

1. Stop spending time with the wrong people. (and why should you, time is precious, golden even use it very wisely)

2.Stop running from your problems.

3. Stop lying to yourself.

4. Stop putting your own needs on the back burner.

5. Stop trying to be someone your'e not. (This is sooo cliche, but true)

6. Stop trying to hold on to the past

7. Stop being scared to make a mistake.

8. Stop berating yourself for old mistakes.

9. Stop trying to buy happiness.

10. Stop exclusively looking to others for happiness.

There will be a part 2 with the other 10 steps so definately come back for more....till next blog post ...take care... and use the 10 steps in YOUR LIFE TODAY :)

And So The Summer Is Here!!! Part 2

So as promised in my previous blog and on my twitter page I will continue to give some of my very own tips and tricks of battling the summer makeup blues. Today I feel the need to focus more oily skin and makeup. I personally don't have only skin, probably dry/normal and combination in the summer months.(I find that women in the tropics (hotter climates) misdiagnose themselves with the wrong skin type, due to the fact that we live in a warmer, hotter climate. (As my blog, is new i'll probally have a blog on how-to find your skin type another time).

Summer Loving Makeup Tips For Oily Skin.
Oily skin is generally characterized by having large pores, roughness and greasy appearance, this is because the sebaceous glands excrete an excess of oil known as sebum, which causes the face to look shiny. Persons with oily skin tend to have a difficult time during summer in keeping their makeup perfect or close to perfect.

        1. Cleanse the face at least twice daily with an oil control facial cleanser to prevent dirt accumulation in pores and to the pores clean.
2. Use an oil free astringent to remove excess oil.
3. Moisturize with an oil free moisturizer, that contains a sun protectant factor (spf) of 15 or higher to keep skin from over drying.
4. Use a face primer (silicone free) before applying foundation
5. Apply a foundation that is oil free
6. Apply an eye shadow primer before eyeshadow application
7. Apply lip gloss and blush
8. Set foundation with lose powder.
9. Through out the day pat your face with oil absorbing sheets or blotting paper, to remove oil without ruining your makeup.

  •    ****Management of Oily Skin and The Prevention of Breakouts Requires A Healthy Diet and Regular Skincare Routine***
*****Avoid Products That Contain Oil or Alcohol**** as these will make your skin produce even more oils.
*****Too Much Oil Mixed With Makeup and Dirt Can Clog The Pores  and Contribute To The Development of Blackheads and Pimples.

And So The Summer Is Here!!!!

And with the summer comes "summer makeup problems/issues", so I've decided to blog about some remedies which may assist in combating and or solving some of these issues. What are these issues (plz as if you don't already know them) are **drumroll plz** melting makeup, disappearing eyeshadow, running mascara, etc

Luckily with the right products and a few adjustments to your makeup routine, you can help yourself and your makeup.Continue reading

1. First ensure that you cleanse, tone, moisturizer your face at the beginning and end of each day, to keep your skin in tip top condition. (if you have acne or are acne prone then you'll should take more steps, but i'll blog about that another time :) )

2. Use a primer, while some people believe that a moisturizer with SPF 15+ (another blog another time :) ), is all that they need, makeup artist, derms, skintologist (is that a word?), yt guru would advise on using a primer before makeup application, as one way to ensure that your makeup does do a vanishing act :)

3. Tinted Moisturizer, if you wear foundation daily, opt for a tinted moisturizer to substitute for those days when you don't have to out all day. Summer time is the best time to adopt and apply the policy of "less is more " darling, using a combination product such as a tinted moisturizer is one less product on the face.

4. Waterproof Mascara need i say more...................this is a MUST to avoid runny mascara.

5. Moisture Rich Lipsticks and Glosses   to input the moisture back into the lips which the heat and humility is absorbing

6. Another quick tip...use Blotting Paper, yesssssssss they help absord the shine. oil, and keeps face looking matte throught out the day.

This is a series........hopefully lol..........look out for part 2 in this summer loving makeup series. Ciao
